Introduction to Pacific Island Movers

Founded in 1979, Pacific Island Movers is Guam’s oldest moving company. With 30 years of experience in Guam, the company’s mission has been to be Guam’s leading provider of local and worldwide transportation services, with a commitment to total quality and 100% customer satisfaction.

In March of 2005, Pacific Island Movers was purchased by Covan International, one of the largest household goods freight forwarding companies in the world. With company owned port facilities, flatbed transportation, and service centers located in strategic areas of North America and a network of over 500 agents spanning the globe, Covan International has one of the most complete household goods transportation networks in the world. After the acquisition, the name Pacific Island Movers was kept because Guam residents had come to trust and associate PIM with quality and service. However, with Covan’s resources, improvements were made to the company including the purchase of new trucks, forklifts, and an expanded warehouse facility.

Pacific Island Movers is separated into two divisions: commercial and military. Military moves account for up to 80% of PIM’s total business on Guam, due to the constant incoming and outgoing service members. However, PIM’s commercial relocation division is quickly growing and is expected to continue expanding, in conjunction with the numerous non-military contractors that will be relocating employees and key personnel to Guam. PIM recently hired Veronica Reed to further develop and manage the commercial relocations division.

Locally, PIM has 67 employees, most of which can be seen all over Guam, making pick-ups, deliveries, as well as local household and office moves daily.

The general manager of PIM is Roy Adkerson, who has over 20 years in the moving business.

Pacific Island Movers can handle relocations, incoming or outgoing. Guam attracts people in different industries from all over the world, and PIM can handle a move from start to finish from any location. Recently, PIM has coordinated incoming moves from exotic destinations such as Aruba and Morocco. PIM recognizes that moving can present a number of challenges, and additionally offers relocation assistance, which can be very helpful to anyone who is new to Guam. Relocation assistance would include help with arrangements for temporary accommodation, airport pick up and transfer, as well as personalized suggestions on schools, real estate, churches, etc. based on the individual client’s needs. PIM’s commitment to total customer satisfaction ensures that they will take the extra steps necessary to make the transition to Guam as smooth as possible for their clients.

PIM has always maintained a commitment to giving back to the island of Guam through community service. PIM is involved in the annual Christmas Drop, the Ayuda Foundation, the Make-a-Wish Foundation, the Guam Women’s Club, and most recently, the Guam Special Olympics.

PIM is active in the Guam Chamber of Commerce, the Guam Contractors’ Association, National Defense Transportation Association, the International Association of Movers, and the American Moving & Storage Association.

Most recently, PIM has purchased land including a warehouse space in Tiyan, and has plans to relocate and expand yet again in the near future.
